TITLE: STUDENT DEVELOPMENT, ENGAGEMENT, & SERVICES

PURPOSE

To establish a broad range of services and programs focused on engaging students in learning opportunities that complement classroom instruction, and that facilitate equitable student progression from college preparation through completion.

STATEMENT

Student programs and services are to be focused on student learning. Programs are to support development of each individual’s intellectual, emotional, social, physical, and/or spiritual well-being. Students will have opportunities to participate in leadership and service experiences that contribute to the intellectual vitality and cultural richness of the college and broader community. Programs and services provide experiential and reflective learning opportunities for students that enhance the understanding of classroom learning.

Students will be supported in learning how to be a member of a diverse community. Through a variety of programs, initiated by students and by the college, students will be engaged in creating an inclusive and vibrant community of learners. Programs and services are to establish a sense of inclusiveness, and to challenge students to respect different values, cultures, lifestyles, and perspectives.

Student Affairs programs and services are intended to develop relationships that support student progression, from recruitment to successful completion and entry into the workforce or transfer. Programs and services are to be designed to connect with and guide the preparation of students with the educational opportunities of the college. Students are to have the support necessary to be successful in the pursuit of their educational goals.
